Tory Lanez Fails to Win Appeal Over Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case, as the rapper’s conviction has officially been upheld. The Canadian artist, currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion, suffered another legal setback after the appellate court rejected his appeal on Wednesday (November 12).

According to the court’s decision, a thorough review found “no errors” in his conviction or the sentence originally handed down.

Judges Stand Firm on Jury’s Findings

In a detailed 46-page opinion, the judges made it clear that the evidence and testimony presented during the trial strongly supported the jury’s conclusion. They stated that the testimony was “more than sufficient to support the jury’s finding that [Tory Lanez] personally inflicted great bodily injury on [Megan Thee Stallion].”

Lanez’s Claims Dismissed by the Court

During his appeal, Tory Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) raised several arguments, suggesting that certain evidence had been admitted improperly, that prosecutors committed misconduct during the 2022 trial, and that the jury received incorrect instructions.

He also claimed that he should have received a low-term sentence rather than the mid-term sentence that was imposed. The court, however, found no merit in these claims.

Charges That Led to His Conviction

Lanez was previously found guilty on multiple felony counts, including:

  • Assault with a semiautomatic firearm

  • Possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle

  • Discharging a firearm with gross negligence

The 2020 Incident That Shocked the Industry

The shooting occurred in July 2020 after a gathering at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home. The situation escalated into a heated argument between the two artists while they were on the street. According to Megan Thee Stallion, Lanez pointed a firearm at her and told her to “dance, bitch” before firing shots that injured her feet.

She later claimed that Lanez offered her $1 million to stay silent about the incident.

Megan Granted a Restraining Order

Earlier this year, Megan Thee Stallion was granted a five-year restraining order against Lanez. This came after allegations that he was attempting to harass her online from prison through third parties.
