Australia’s beloved Meredith Music Festival has revealed the full lineup for its 33rd edition, with Perfume Genius and TV on the Radio Announced as Headliners for Australia’s Meredith Music Festival, alongside Men at Work’s Colin Hay.
A Festival With a Legendary Reputation
Held in the regional town of Meredith, this three-day event has earned its reputation as one of the nation’s most respected festivals. Known for its carefully curated programming, communal spirit, and positive ethos, Meredith continues to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans eagerly anticipate year after year.
Big Names and Exciting Debuts
Running from December 5–7, this year’s edition marks the highly anticipated return of New York art rock pioneers TV on the Radio, who will be performing in Australia for the first time in a decade. Meanwhile, Perfume Genius returns to the festival stage, bringing his bold and emotional performances back Down Under. Fans can also look forward to the Australian debut of the rising J-pop sensation Atarashii Gakko!.
Joining them are acclaimed acts such as Men at Work frontman Colin Hay, American soul trio Thee Sacred Souls, and U.K. rapper Pa Salieu. The lineup also shines a spotlight on local talent, featuring Folk B–ch Trio, Mildlife, RONA., Radio Free Alice, Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice, and many more.
Tickets Through Ballot Only
True to tradition, Meredith’s ticketing remains exclusive to a ballot system, which is open until 10:33 p.m. AEST on Tuesday, August 19. This system ensures fairness and preserves the festival’s intimate, community-driven atmosphere.
From Humble Beginnings to Iconic Status
What started in 1991 as a backyard-style gathering of about 200 people has since evolved into one of Australia’s most iconic festivals. Over the years, Meredith has welcomed global heavyweights including Kraftwerk, Jamie xx, Liam Gallagher, The Breeders, Billy Bragg, and countless others.
Organizers reflect on its evolution with pride: “It’s now a little vaster, a bit deeper, there’s more pageantry than in its infancy. What was planted one year harvested the next. The spirit of ’91 preserved and evolved, an epigenetic mutation that’s retained the original strain of DNA.”
The Famous “No D–khead Policy”
One of Meredith’s most celebrated traditions is its strict “no d–khead policy,” which has been in place since the very beginning. As the festival’s website explains, “In part it means looking after yourself and others. Just as importantly, it means treating each other with respect.”
This policy, along with the festival’s commitment to unique experiences and diverse lineups, has made Meredith more than just a music event—it’s a cultural institution.
